SANDBALL 2018 TAKES ON NEW LOCATION
September 17, 2018
This year, Sandball has been led to a new location, THE BEACH INDOOR VOLLEYBALL CENTRE. This facility is in East St. Paul, and it was the perfect place to host Sandball. Under the coordination of Tyler Cormier, this event saw just under a dozen co-ed teams compete against each other in a one day tournament.

The Beach proved to be the perfect setting for Sandball, with an easy access viewing lounge right beside the courts, with food and beverage available with speedy service. All courts were contained in the walls of the facility and some teams even took to dressing up with some flash! We loved seeing the costume coordination and the cleverness of everyone who attends. This year, we saw a repeat champion, flying under a new name, the MEME TEAM. Congratulation to all those who attended and with an indoor facility capable of hosting our Sandball tournaments, perhaps we might see multiple tournaments throughout the year?!

"This year was a lot of fun. I encourage a lot more people to join the following year."
-Tyler Cormier
CANADIAN HANDBALL LOSES A KEY FIGURE
August 06, 2018
As many of you are aware, Brian Hayes has passed away after a long battle with cancer over the weekend. The MTHF would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brian.
A long time referee and active member of the handball community, Brian helped shape the sport that we know today and his memory will live on through those he has taught. He served as Treasurer of Handball Canada from 2006 until 2016, was selected as the lead federation delegate for numerous national championships, and was also appointed as the North American delegate for the Pan American Team Handball Federation.
Although he traveled quite frequently for different handball events, we could always find Brian at Red River on a Sunday catching a league game with his Tim’s coffee in hand. Sundays will not be the same without you.
Rest In Peace Brian.

May 30, 2018
It was a great season in the WHSTHL, with exciting regular and playoff game play. Unfortunately, there can only be one team that finishes on top in both the boys and girls divisions. Taking top spot for the girls was the Glenlawn Collegiate Lions! On the boys side, Coach Quintin Kuby of the Dakota Collegiate Lancers led his team to another league win! Congratulations to all schools and players that participated in this year's season, we look forward to seeing more of you in our WTHL and future WHSTHL games!! Enjoy your rest in the off season.

2017-18 WTHL Season Now Underway
October 22, 2017
This weekend, the Winnipeg Team Handball League opened with the 2017-18 season's first games. The men's games followed last season's trends with Tube Sharks, Pikeys, Rebels, and Shockers winning the first round of games. Hard to say who's going to stay on top in the competitive women's division. With a handful of double headers played, it was a tough day for most teams but Four Llamas, Gambit, Fury, and Y & R were the ones who walked away with first week wins. 6 weeks left in the first half!
11 Teams for Sandball 2017
August 27, 2017
The morning started off cold and foggy, but when that cleared up it was suns out guns out for the 80 sandball participants out at Adrenaline Adventures. There were some fantastic themes that teams came up with including the sweatband clad Harlem Beach Trotters and the 80's work out team Body Break (pictured above). Veteran team Hot Pizza Ass topped the ranks going into playoffs, but it was Tune Squad (featuring Manitoba players Colin Bouchard, Joe Deally, Kirby Reutlinger, Taylor Thorkelsson, Maggie Hiebert, and Mikaela Tymchyshyn) who took home the championship. Congratulations to everyone on a super fun day and a special shout out to the folks who came out from Saskatchewan! Everyone keep an eye out for Sask Handball who may be hosting their own Sandball tournament next year...

High School Sandball A Success
June 10, 2017
The rain delay didn't dampen the spirits of the 50 students and volunteers who showed up to compete for the title of High School Sandball Champions. When the skies cleared, it was all systems go for the Glenlawn, Dakota, Fort Richmond, and Vincent Massey teams. Glenlawn paved the way by earning many "spectacular" points early with their flops lead by Brock Harrison and Derek Brunet. By the end of the tournament, referees could no longer award extra points for their flops because they were just too easy! Needless to say, they took home the title.
Junior Men at Nationals
June 16, 2017
The junior men's provincial team, lead by coach Pierre Feng, was in Regina mid-June to see how we stacked up against the other prairie teams. After a tough round robin, Manitoba finished 2nd with the lowest-in-round 58 goals scored against thanks to experienced goalies Tyler Cormier of Glenlawn Collegiate and Owen Kemball of Dakota Collegiate.
